Texa’s Story
Texa Kite was a bright light, whose love for swimming and family shaped her vibrant spirit. Her kindness, strength, and joy touched everyone she encountered, whether in the pool or at home. She was a fierce competitor in the pool and was known in the swimming community.
Though she left us too soon, her legacy lives on through Texa Kite Family Ministries (TKFM). TKFM was created to honor her memory by providing underserved children and families with access to essential resources through our community programs.
“TKFM is about Texa’s legacy of love, compassion, and the importance of community. Our goal is to continue this mission and be a bridge to children and families that need our help.”
Our Vision
Texa Kite Family Ministries exist to uplift children and families through compassionate, Christ-centered care - equipping them not just to survive, but to thrive with strength, dignity, and lasting impact.

TexaDawn Strom Kite was a radiant light in the lives of her parents, Robin and Jerry Kite, and all who knew her. Though her time on Earth was short, her life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and purpose.
Texa’s adoption was marked by a series of incredible blessings. From a phone call that began it all, to her finalization through the tribal court in Concho, Oklahoma, every step felt divinely guided. The Kites always called her their Christmas miracle.
She grew into a gifted young woman—an artist, honor student, and elite swimmer. By 15, she had achieved numerous competitive swimming milestones and was working toward national-level times. Texa dreamed of attending a Division I college on a swimming scholarship and pursuing a career in medicine to serve her tribe as a surgeon.
Texa’s legacy is one of kindness, ambition, and unshakable faith. While we grieve her loss deeply, we rest in the hope of reuniting with her in Heaven—where there is no more pain or sorrow.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
Written by Jerry Kite, Texa’s father
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
